So much work, so many projects, so little time... I'm in my element! Life's pretty good.

Biology? Check. Surgeries? Check. Paintings? Hell YEAH check. Writing. Mm-hm. Conceptualizing? Uh-huh. Rocket science? Just a bit... =]

Come into my world...
:icontavenerscholar:
haha! Rochester artists unite! Well, actually I live in Los Angeles at the moment, but I was Rochester born and raised for 22 years. Great work, by the way.
:iconjinshin:
Really? Great. I'm going to school in Rochester (RIT). Lotta hard work.

I really like your style. What media do you use? It's dark and almost grimey, lending it a certain gothic or noir-ish appeal.

How's LA? I have a friend in or near the area. :)
:icontavenerscholar:
Thats awesome. I went to RIT as well. I graduated from SOFA (the film program) in 2004. It was a great experience even though it is indeed lots of hard work. Thanks for checking out my work! I use a variety of technique from Digital Painting to Photo Manipulation to Vector art- kind of what ever I'm in the mood for. :) LA is pretty cool- I dunno, I have kind of a love/hate relationship with the place- its just so big and there's so much going on that its difficult to take it all in. Plus, this sounds weird, I miss the snow!
:iconjinshin:
You miss the snow? Jeez, you'd think anyone who lived here would be tired of snow! But the spring and summer are very beautiful here.
After graduation, how did the job search go for you? May I ask what you do?
:icontavenerscholar:
haha- heck yeah man. I love winter time. I dunno- its kind of ingrained in me. Fall and winter are my two favorite seasons. So after graduation I came out here with my fiance who was also in SOFA and the first year was definitely a struggle- especially because what I was so sure I wanted to do while I was in school turned out to be totally wrong- I wouldn't have known that had I not seen what it was like in the real world. So I had a bit of a scramble trying to figure out what it really was that I wanted to do. And finding freelance work is definitely a draining and unnerving process- but it for sure makes you stronger and I recommend it for anyone looking to cut their teeth. So I got into visual effects (I currently work for I.E. Effects) and really fell in love with it and I've been able to work within visual effects since but I also get to delve into concept art and illustration and really branch out to pursue lots of different interests. Its been very rewarding. And, as I understand it, that's pretty much the way it goes for most everyone when they get out of school. So be prepared for a struggle, but don't let that, for a second, stop you from making a leap- like coming out to LA or wherever your compass points. If you can make it happen- do it as soon as you can. The sooner you hit the road running, the less time you spend long nights awake trying to figure out what the hell it is you want to do with this life! haha- hope that's helpful and not to philosophical. Best of luck!
